To all the new faces in Malaysia ,
I am once a newbies myself … Staying in this position right now really shatters my heart … look at the girls now … they get low paid jobs , stupid agents cut alot of their pay off , girls con girls collect the payment doesnt wanna pay other girls , man pretend to be agents and do stupid things , irresponsible middle person take advantage of new models , new models do stupid things to get the fame they wanted but end up getting cheated, taken advantaged of but still remain quiet but depressed , the newbies will only be seen in low-paid jobs , and only the famous & recognised faces will have the chance to be featured & seen everywhere. if i were to list out all , it will be pages … i am very sad because alot of girls came to me and tell me all these in the 5 years of me being in this line … i have no power to change ur life , but i am trying my best to help you … helping us , the MALAYSIAN MODELS to speed up their dreams , to be seen by others , to be remembered , to prove themselves someone , belonging … loved , and respected …
This mag started because i do not want to see malaysian model industry falling apart …
all the magazines u see , featuring the same girl over n over again . Even new models , they’ll get all the jobs in that period when they’re up , they’re everywhere …look at the most of the event girls, the non famous ones have no chance at all .. they just remain giving flyers , serving drinks lah , like what ? RM60 one day , OMG ~ what is this ?
So anyone who understand the purpose of this project … stand up for urself … if u think u can offer some help , try to help … be our crew … everyone is welcome … Our magazine needs u , beautiful ppl , both in n out … sincerely
The Magazine Cover Girl search is a new idea for building a platform for all MALAYSIAN NEW MODELS to become a model and to shine , offering them opportunities , giving them secured & well paid jobs , opening up bigger chances for them to be spotted and well recognised by all Malaysians … and only NEW faces will be accepted …
This idea came out because we studied the problems Malaysian Models are facing . Alot of newbies doesn’t have a chance to appear on magazines and papers as there’re too many professional models out there and it is hard for them to be spotted & featured . But we cant possibly take in all request so what we’re gonna choose the one we think stands a chance to do well in this line . What we’re gonna do is to promote those girls who wish to be a model but have no chance to ~ Wasting their money taking unsufficient pictures which gets them no where .. wasting their time , their money , their dream … time is precious for a model , and we wont allow that to happen . And u cant get jobs by sending candid handphone-taken photos *OMG* what r u thinking ~ No ~
We are offering a very cheap half sponsorred package of RM500 , a photography session by our key photographer , a copy of all the photos that u’ve taken will be given back to you & we’ll pick the best ones that u’ve done to be featured on the magazine . giving u a full page of everything about YOU , ur portfolio , ur pictures and also a special tag line for u . We will select around 50 - 70 models , all NEW FACES
U can then get the magazines at any news stands in malaysia except sabah & sarawak (we’re still pending whether we want to include it in) . Ur database will then be sent to few chosen webpages and active forums to be featured & promoted . Besides tru internet , we will forward ur data to few of our appointed agencies to look out for suitable jobs and advertisement , print ads , posters , etc etc . for u.The reason for our action is to open up more chances to give u maximum publicity and appearances, and also to let u stand a bigger chance of getting more jobs & exposure …
We need at least 200K to complete a complete magazine so please dont try to take advantage from us … we’re helping u , if u add up the burden we will just cancel off this project n i wish u all the best by urself … u have a photography session + a full page of yourself in the magazine. We’re gonna create different feels & designs for each girl … Once u r selected , u have to pay RM500 during the shoot, thats the best we could offer u , we give u back all ur photographs , a designed profile in the magazine , in few forums , in few webpages,u r a magazine MODEL and that counts in ur experience ( Haha , u can add into ur profile when u wanna send ppl ur port folio )
ATTENTION : If we picked u , u are SURELY featured in our magazine … we do not simply shoot ANYONE & feature them up …
We will have a few upcoming beauty pageants & also ADVERTISED models party launches where mediaSS will come and u might have a chance to appear everywhere - magazines , newspapers, featured forums , huge gathering for beautiful people. BEAUTY PAGEANTS ~ Pageants where ONLY the NEW models can participate … Pageant where the judges are the readers , our friends , ur family , and ur supporter … It will be clear and FAIR ~ Nothing will be hidden from u …

Estee Lauder search u also didnt get back anything lah … from young 15s to 55 yrs old … 3 thousand over ppl join n they paid at least RM300 & above to enter the contest and get back i think one photo only , u cant even get to see ur face on their web lah come on … we’re trying to help u here n u pulak ask for free wanna take advantage … no thanks ~ think for us , urself & compare …

Its sad that to start a magazine the fund needed was at least 150 - 200k , and distributor take 40% off the selling price . Meaning EVEN if we sell all the books (thats not possible coz even FEMALE doesnt sell all) , we still kenot cover the printing fee … it is everyone’s dream to make this a success & help hidden Malaysian Models to shine & not be cheated , but now im working hard on the fund itself … aih ~ I must tahan at least a year plus b4 everything settles down & the magazine Untung then can create another section of promoting … but if this Dream doesnt have enuff funding , it’s sad to announce that it must be cancelled … hopefully the girls will be strong enough to stand up … coz now the RM500 is so damn cheap oledi comparing when i did my port folio back then … but they’re still complaining , they didnt sit down n think . They tot we’re EATING UP their money , Gosh , how much can RM500 do to us , just a lil part … damn ~

there was 1 magazine having the same concept as yrs…saying that they r offering a chance for all the gals who dream of becoming a model..or featured in a magazine..i went to the audition but i din sign up in the end…they ask for some registration fee as well…but till 2day i never seen tis mag at all…

Dear darlings , if i have catwalk which requires height i’ll pick the tall ones … but cover girls & magazine girls doesnt need height , just the face … n it can be more stand out coz i’d got really good photographers , hair stylist n make up artist for u already … if u dont like the shoot , i’ll shoot again until u like k =) Jie wont cheat ur money lah … even with Malaysian’s requirement , race queen & alot of titles dont neccesarily choose the tallest as winner … charactor & well being carries u further in this industry … and one more thing , even if u r famous in MALAYSIA , u r not neccesarily getting the highiest pay , not like other countries … *think,u’ll understand what i mean* so girls , one step at a time , dont dream too big n easily trust ppl , dont do free jobs and under paid jobs … if u take it , everyone will be practising it & tats y nowadays new girls are underpaid (understand?) and thats y jiejie funded this magazine … understand ? Be urself , and stand out as WHO YOU ARE … example ( compare the celebrities , y r they famous ? ) all pretty ? Angelina jolie - charactor … is more famous than Tyra Banks … why ?

hey,i think its a good move n intention BUT RM500 ppl will think is a lots cos some of the agent out thr is giving it free n get paid in return no matter how much,those “models” still think that they are great cos get paid instead of paying them n see whether got the job or not..?u know what i mean?even like the Estee Lauder model search,u gotta pay RM300 to get involve n still no guarantee.thats why the respond was not so good..
But i still think its worth to try out this idea.what if not working,maybe u should try to ask them go for audition and choose,be honest with them instead of let them pay but no hope.Those got choosen 1 then only ask them to pay for it.

IT depends on the job , starting from 16 yrs old .. height is never a problem … if its a job which requires height , then be it , but most of the job in malaysia example print ad , doesnt requires height … looks <— can b photoshop-ed

I’ve seen the ins & outs of publishing a mag from the ground up, start to finish, A-Z. True indeed the costs are very high to get a mag published, with the distributors demanding a big cut.
Profits dont come from the sale of the mags, but from the ads that go into the mag. In fact, it’s the revenue of the ads that will be paying for the costs of printing and production staff.
Leng Yein, I wish you all the best in this new project. If you need some help with photography and/or written editorial content, I can help with that.

dear Yein, just want to comment something… u say who had picked by ur team then pay RM500 onli for shoot n u will give back the portfolio n copy of the photos BUT ..how many photos u give back to them? n portfolio juz paper onli oh..u know outside photo studio photography package damn cheap already ..U know the “NEW LOOK Image Photo Studio”? there RM398 package includes 70 exposures/3 images inclusive of make up/hairstyling/outfits n choices of 1 Elegant PHOTO ALBUM for 24×4R colour prints..n the most expensive package juz RM888 onli ..but more things is .120 exposures n 5 images make up n hairstyling. 1 ELEgant photo album for 22×8R colour prints (8×12′ full page)8×2R colour prints n 1x 20r colour print.(size 20×30) , so i feel RM500 juzt can take back copy photos n paper portfolio not worth lo..at least do the Elegant photo album to them lo.n u just choose their 1 piece nice photo feature to ur magazine onli. so actually not many things to get back ..

My make up artist & Hair Stylist clients r from TV Station , Top 5 Magazine in Malaysia & A Top malaysian Model agency ? leng yein - best wishes to you for this project.
not stating any specifics - rm500 is considered very cheap
however, for those who want to do the maths - a typical scenario would be these - a proper studio rental in kl, rates ranges from rm70-rm100 per hour. a typical shoot (for me) might (last about) min 4 hours. make up artist - ranges from rm150-rm250 for 2 makeup and hair. in addition to those cost inccurred - you need to add the fees from the photographer.

lol…poor darling…ppl keep misundertood da rm500..aiya…evryone fong sum la…she wun lie to you nor treat you like a shit la..cz of her experience n past..she wouldnt bare to see you guys treaten that ways neither la..rm500 is not a small amount…but wat she keep trying to do for all da new faces was more than beyond..all da expenses she have to give out is to hope u guys to have a chance n to full fill your dreams..cant you guys think positively??..if you gave out rm500 you might get back double when you are in da fashion industry..there’re a lot of fashion line for models to do so la…not juz catwalk…such as commercial models,ads models, n bla bla…(which i forgot..hahaha…sry to said so)..as you could c..fashion line r getting larger…cz there’re more n more ppl starting to appreciate beauty,health n fashion..n thz god they did…if not i would be part of a junk outside da world..ppl starting to know wats gud for dem n wat don..needle to say they’re more “love to enjoy da facilities like an emperor” n wat our job is to tell dem wat r gud n wat arent..wearing out da latest design from all da fashion line…which they do really nid a “model” to bring out their project.we need models to bring out da latest design from fashion designers,latest accessories,lates cars model,latest makeup,latest household..n all da etc latest stuff…evryone is working hard which means more job for models…hahaha…love models!!…we all supports models!!..n hope u guys will be more appreciate for wat leng yein n her friends r duin..gud luck to all of you^^

i am Kim.in your blog u have not list out the qualification as a model in ur magazine.
because as i know, i been a event girls,show girls,promoter(too many lala zaza job i ‘v received) for more than 5 years, and from different agency.
They told me the requirement for heigh is only for fashion cat walk model.
and that’s why i still struggling here today to find some chance for me to get raise.
Can tell me what’s the requirement from your Magazine?

Rm 500 is not a problem, i shoot photo out there also need rm 300-400. and that’s only 36 pictures return only. ^^
so i think if can’t be model, that RM 500 can be worth to be as a memories to me.
